In 1992 Eleanor and Palmer Neil moved to Kingston and chose Chalmers United Church as their church home. At a Women of Chalmers meeting a few months later, Eleanor told the gathering about a ladies lunch group that had operated at their previous church. Those ladies would go out together to a resturant once a month. Eleanor asked if anyone would be interested in forming such a group. Thus our Ladies Lunch Bunch was born.
Eleanor led the group by making reservations and inviting new people until her untimely death in 2003.
In memory of Eleanor, we decided to name the group the "Eleanor Neil Ladies' Lunch Bunch."
We have visited many of the resturants in Kingston during the winter months. In good weather we travel farther afield. We've travelled west to Piction and Napanee, north to Tamworth and Westport, and east to Gananoque and Rockport. Our December Christmas lunch is always held in a private room at the River Mill Resturant, at which time we invite extra guests and have a fun gift exchange.
We meet the first Thursday of each month. All ladies of the congregation are very welcome. If you are new at Chalmers, it is a wonderful way to get acquainted with a dozen or more ladies in an informal setting.
